Agriboard panel

Agriboard panel is a structural insulated composite panel of TimberStrand frames and OSB (oriented strand board) sheathing with kraft paper-faced straw insulation yielding an R-value of 25.4. The advantage of factory-built panels allows ease of customization in a controlled environment with reduced on-site labor expense for erection.

Agriboard claims the adhesives used have no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and very low formaldehyde content, which brings to bear the question - what constitutes a ‘sustainable’ material? If the goal is to create and use products which, among many other criteria, do not contribute to poor indoor air quality, is low formaldehyde content acceptable while we all search for that perfect product? Is it better to use a typical wood-framed wall than use structural panels using processed wood held together with adhesives?
