STL Architects is pleased to have been selected as the architect of record for the Helge A. Haugan School project. In conjunction with the Public Building Commission of Chicago, STL has been given the task of completing the construction documents and providing construction administration services.
Helge A. Haugan Middle School is part of the Chicago Public Schools Capital Improvement Program. The users of the facility are the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Park District. The project is a 115,300 sf three-story masonry building on a 4-acre site. The school is composed of twenty-nine 900 sf classrooms, six 600 sf classrooms, library, kitchen and dining facility, and administrative and support areas. Additionally, there is a Chicago Park District field house and a gymnasium to be shared between the school and the Park District. The majority of the site is occupied by Jensen Park, which will receive improvements under the scope of this project. The capacity of the school is planned at 912 students.
